Today, a little roundup.

Today consisted of a trip to Truro (the 'capital' of Cornwall for you non-Cornish folk) spending way too much money. Although my lovely fiance did treat me to a lovely pair or wellies from Joules (droooool). Eating gelato and drinking coffee and going for a walk in Probus with the doggy.

Pretty good day off if you ask me.

these boots were made for (dog) walking.

Spring has spring. Yep, that's right, over the past couple of weeks the sun has been out! Hallelujah!! It's been a longtime coming and I'm so glad it's slightly warmer now, even more so when the sun is shining.

I really am one of those people that responds really well to sunshine. I feel more pro-active, want to get up earlier & want to get out in the fresh air and make the most of my life, without wasting a second.

Since we moved house, Chris & I have been exploring our local area a little more to see what is on our doorstep. We live in mid cornwall, near the beautiful Roseland Peninsula. And it really is stunning. However, since going on these little adventures I've noticed I'm not particularly well kitted out or being a walker and my little feet have been suffering (not to self-converse do not make good walking shoes. Ouuuuch!). And I love walking, for a start-I've got to do it as I've got a dog. And I really enjoying finding new places to go band finally the feeling of freedom and fresh air really is therapeutic.

Whilst out in Penzance the other day, I popped into Mountain Warehouse. Not the most fashionable of shops but very useful. I found myself a pair of chunky, waterproof hiking boots. Perfect! Solid, supportive and does the job perfectly (I tried them out on a mega walk yesterday and yep....they're good!

These were on sale for £39.99 from £79.99. What a steal! I'm really glad I've invested in these and think ill get a lot of use out of these, whilst exploring the Cornish coastline this summer :).

cornwall | gwithian downs.

Recently, my grandmother has gone to stay in a nursing home in cornwall. It's been a tough time for all the family, completely heartbreaking in fact. But I think (hope) the right decision has been made and that she & my grandfather are happier as a result. The nursing home is in south cornwall, about 20 miles from me but I see her atleast once a week and enjoy taking my grandfather there. My normal routine is to take Phoenix with me, drop my grandfather off with my grandmother, take the dog for a long walk and then see them after. It's great to take advantage of this as the nursing home is set in the most beautiful location; overlooking downs and farms and behind it, sand dunes leading to a huge beach. It also gives my grandparents time together without me :)

Here are some photos of Mothers Day last week when me & Chris enjoyed an arctic walk with the doggy to the beach.

cornwall | carne & pendower.

What do I need to say about this? A beautiful day, my two favourite people and a bloody incredible beach. Perfection

cornwall | pentewan river walk.

The beautiful Pentewan valley river played host to Phoenix & I last week when we enjoyed a rather splendid walk there.

The sun made a rare appearance so we grabbed the lead and poo bags and off we went. A short drive from my house, Pentewan is located on the outskirts of St Austell and boasts a long river along woodlands and valley. Lovely.

cornwall | lunch in Charlestown.

This Saturday saw me working a delightful shift of 26 hours (lovely) but luckily it was a pleasurable 26 hours and apart from the fact I was at work, it wasn't all that bad!

I was lucky enough to go to a near-by seaside town for lunch in one of my favourite restaurants. Wreckers is an understated independent restaurant in the village of Charlestown set back from the sea by about 50 yards with the most beautiful view. Charlestown is famous for the Tall Ships, real life 'pirate ships' I call them!!

Wreckers menu is simple but delicious and I was spoilt with the dough balls & balsamic vinegar dipping oil/mozzarella, pinenuts, sun ripened tomatoes & guacamole salad/home-made bakewell slice. Seriously good! I was pretty stuffed but completely satisfied after this feast and along with a drink this meal was a bargain at under £16!!!

Finished off with a Costa hot chocolate and a walk along a beach, today was a good (work) day.

PS sorry about the side-ways photos. I've got a new phone & have not figured this out yet!

cornwall | Gwithian beach

Gwithian is located in south Cornwall in the lovely sea-side village of Hayle. Boasting miles and miles of golden sands, Gwithian is a gem in the winter when all the tourists are gone and you're left by yourself on the beach with a few surfers for company.

This is exactly where me, Chris & Phoenix went last Monday and it was really nice. Phoenix has never been so knackered after a run before, he had pretty much the whole beach to himself and even had a little swim!

It was great to he some fresh air and I noticed a difference with my lungs and cheat since I've given up smoking!

a few Cornish days #2

This weekend has been lovely. Very rarely do me & Chris have a weekend off together where we don't have anything to do and no work or gigs. So we've been really looking forward to it. I would describe this weekend in three words;
FOOD
COSY
AUTUMN
Saturday began with an epic lie-in, a trip out shopping, buying some baking goodies, going to a Cornish market buying goodies, baking a cake and walking the dog. It's felt really wintery this weekend and LOVE it! Autumn & winter is my fave time of year :)
Sunday was another lie-in, mowing the garden, baking, family, home made soup & good TV.

Its really been a lovely couple of days but now even more depressed about going back to work :(

I need to win the lottery!!!
