a Cornish Wednesday.

I had a day off today (so glad, sick of work at the moment) and I had lots to do so I was up out of bed and showered super early ready to start my day!

First off was collecting my grandmother from the care home she is at for respite and take her to a day centre. It was better than I imagined, a wonderful environment for older people who need a bit of company and stimulation in their life so I was really happy with that!

Next, I drove down the A30 to Penzance to see my sister and nephew Harry. What a lovely afternoon we had, I am so happy spending time with them. She is my best friend and we are so close, we have such giggles! Highlights of the afternoon were having a clothes and make up swap & Harry doing a poop on the bathroom floor! We were in stitches :-)

Then I went home to my fiancé and haw a lovely dinner and a chilled night in front of the TV.

The photo below is 'dim sum plum' by OPI on my nails that I did last night. I've had this for a while and recently re discovered it-fab for autumn!

And PS-check out the weather this week! So depressing :( I LOVE autumn and winter but hate rain!

stomp! | face of the evening.

Yup....you can tell winter is coming by the look of my make-up! I am now going back to my winter shades in foundation and cutting back on the ol' bronzer.

I went out for the night last week; dinner & a show and wanted a casual but long lasting look.

I used my Photo ready foundation is 'vanilla', warmed up with some Chanel Bronze Universal, Body Shop concealer in light, Urban Decay Naked palette for eyes with MAC Zoom-lash mascara. Finished off with a bit of blush and a sweep of powder. My make up stayed on all night and was still going strong when I got home-pretty happy with that!

bikini so teeny.

Isn't this just the most lovely nail colour? Another new one for me from Essie, bikini so teeny (as well as having the sweetest name ever) is a gorgeous pastely sky blue. The consistency is brill and with two coats give excellent coverage. I've had so many compliments on this already and although I think it's more of a summery colour, I will get a lot of use out of this! I've had it on for 4 days now (with no topcoat-I forgot!) and only a couple of chips have a appeared.

I bought mine from eBay for £7.50 but you can pick it up on several different online shops.

stomp.

Last week was my little brothers 12th birthday. I'm a bit old fashioned a completely disagree with kids these days so obsessed with computer games (as my brother is!) so as a super duper special treat I teamed up with my sister and we bought him tickets to the hit show 'Stomp!'

So last Friday we picked him up after school, went to Pizza Express for yummy dinner then off to the theatre! The show was at our local (and only) theatre Hall For Cornwall; a very intimate venue but does the job just fine! And what can I say? This show was incredible, way better than anticipated. The Stomp! crew are truly talented and kept the audience on the edge of their seats for the whole hour 45 minutes an begging for more after.

It's a simple concept-making noise and rhythm using household items ie dust bins, lighters, newspapers and their bodies. They included quite a lot of comedy too which was great an had us three crying with laughter at some points and involving the audience with the beats was a great treat too.

This show is amazing for kids of any age as well as everybody else! I would not think twice about seeing it again and was so glad we got the chance to go-my brother loved it!

interior hysteria #2

This not so much an interior design post but it's a 'home' post all the same. I'm a bit of an organisation freak, when I can be bothered. But one thing that really bothers me is the house not being tidy. Being an anxious person, I just cannot settle and relax if the house is a mess or if something needs doing. So, I've made up a cleaning rota for me & Chris. It's not set in stone and I won't go crazy of its not done but I'm just sick and tired of spending a whole day once a week cleaning when we could be spending quality time together doing something cool. This way, little bits get done every day and you keep on top of cleaning. I've got two days off cleaning a week and then days when there is a room rota'd in its: dust, polish, tidy, Hoover/mop (if necessary), change bed linen, do laundry etc.

Then once a month I do all the crappy jobs that don't need doing as often ie cleaning windows, bleaching shower, getting everything off shelves an polishing etc. we both work 40 hours a week and just don't have the time to be spending one whole day a week cleaning and I do shift work so it's easy enough for me to squeeze in an hours cleaning a day on whatever room day it is!

saconne joly love.

I'm not usually one for these gushing blogs about other people, but in this instance I just HAD to.

I've been following Anna Saconne and her blog & YouTube channel 'The Style Diet' for ages now and also her daily YouTube show with her husband 'The Saconne Jolys'. It's a daily episode in which they document their daily lives and it is just so addictive!

Anna's blog is my favorite blog out there, it's beautifully layed out and I love her writing style; featuring make-up, tutorials, outfits of the day and most recently; baby bump updates! Yes, earlier on this year the couple announced the pregnancy of their first child. Her weekly pregnancy updates have me glued to my seat and it's been just fascinating.

As a 24 year old, my ovaries were twitching throughout Anna's pregnancy Anna had a superb one, and birth and it really was brilliant being so involved as her viewers/subscribers were.

Then last week Anna & Jonathan checked into the hospital to be induced and the nation were refreshing twitter like there was no tomorrow waiting for news of Emilia's arrival.

Then, the news came, the 'congrats' flooded in and people around the country were crying with joy for the lovely couple.

I just wanted to say, that there is a lot of negativity surrounding couples that do YouTube as their occupation, but I say, good on ya! They have loyal subscribers and obviously enjoy what they do & I know that I for one am very grateful that I get to see what happens in their life! Emilia is a beautiful little girl and clearly has incredible loving parents already an shell never have to go without! I am glued to my laptop and shall treasure watching this little family flourish.

Anna, as a woman of the same age a you, you've given me faith that pregnancy & childbirth doesn't have to be all bad, but an experience to cherish.

Good luck & thank you to Anna, Jonathan & Emilia

cornwall | jemima puddle duck

A few snaps from last week when I went to Newquay for the day (possibly the most famous place in Cornwall; a surfers paradise) I went for a long walk and sat in the sun watching the world go by...bliss.

cute as a button.

Today's nails of the day is a new purchase. I've recently bought three new Essie polishes and live them all. Today it was time to try the infamous 'Cute as a Button' a creamy pink orange. Verdict; I love it!

Sunday 16 September 2012

a cornish (rubbish) sunday.

I feel really yucky today, poorly yucky that is. And no it's not the Sunday morning hangover that most 23 year olds have right now as I don't drink.

I've not been very well all week and feel even worse today; so it's a day to leave the housework for another day, eat continent food (if it even agrees with my stomach) & lounge around in pjs all day. I have the two perfect ingredients or this kind of Sunday;

A new flash box Glossybox. Filled with lots of NUXE & Docteur Reynaud products to play around with. Also two new chick-flicks 'The Lucky One' & 'Remember Me'

But right now, I'm going to lay in bed looking out my window and read my book and not even worry about things that have to be done.

This, my friends, is a rubbish cornish (poorly) Sunday.

cosmetics from the body shop.

What a lovely sight, a bunch of new Body Shop goodies. oh I could just stare at it all day, but i'm not, instead i'm going to show you what i got...

all-in-one cheek colour. 'macaroon' shade 01. £8.
i've been looking for a peachy-pink subtle blush for a while now and i'm pretty pleased with this find. i think i'll get a lot of wear out of this. it's a matt shade which i like as i prefer wearing separate high-light products rather that being a big glitter-face.
pressed face powder. shade 02. £12.50.
i'm going to use this product for days when i'm a little bit more oily and need that extra bit of coverage over my base ie foundation or bb cream. first look, i'm impressed it looks very fine which i like, matt, and not a bad match to my skin.

all-in-one bb cream. shade 01. £12.
i have been SO excited about trying this! since purchasing my first bb cream (garnier) i've barely worn foundation and haven't looked back since. i love the idea of bb creams; looking after your skin whilst wearing make-up and concealing inperfections. this one for body shop is a colour adapting cream. so, it comes out white but in fact, it's filled with colour capsules which burst when you start rubbing and adapts to the colour of your skin. so far i really like this product. will keep you updated as i have a feeling i'll be wearing this lots! Also keep an eye out for a comparison post too on 4 different bb creams.

top-bottom: tea-tree concealer. shade 01. £6. all-in-one concealer. shade 00. £8.50. lightening touch concealer. shade 01. £14.
yes, i've gone a bit concealer made but as mentioned in my last post my skin has gone crazy recently. I've not been very well so i've been really pale with mega dark circles and i need some extra help concealing these bloody spots. the tea-tree will be for spots/blemishes. lightening touch for under eyes/round nose and all-in-one for any other areas.
carbon eye definer. shade brown, £9.
another product that i've been using for a long time. i've also got the black shade and just love these eye liners. it comes with a smudger on the other end which is good for a classic smokey eye or just as a bit of a more subtle eye liner. i really enjoy using brown eye colours as i have blue eyes and it makes them pop.
super volume mascara. shade cobolt blue. £10.
just for a bit of a change i fancied buying an electric blue mascara, for days when i just can't be bothered, this will add a bit of colour to my eyes without much other effort.
love gloss. shade 13 pale pink. £10.
you've gotta have a pink gloss in your collection haven't you? this one tastes lovely, isn't too sticky lasts pretty well. i'm a bit disappointed at the shade; its a lot more iridescent on my lips as the swatch in the shop but i will still wear it.

once again, i cannot fault body shop products and glad to have these new additions to my make-up collection. as well as the brilliant quality, at body shop you can be assured that animals haven't been tested on.

I forgot to mention in my last post that i specifically went to the body shop to purchase all these bits on sunday as there was a voucher code running up til sunday for a huge 30% all purchases in store. i saved so much money it was brilliant, didn't feel quite so guilty splurging!

all products can be purchased in store or online at http://www.thebodyshop.co.uk/index.aspx and they always have great deals going on!

Today I've done my make-up playing around with all Th Body Shop products I bought. And I'm really impressed! This is the kind of look I go for day-to-day when I'm not doing anything special, work etc. I will definitely be using these products to do this from now on! It's a very natural look, perfect for school or work and super duper easy. I've been wearing it for about 8 hours now and still going strong!

nars|haul.

I've been trying out my first ever Nars products and....I like! I bought three items from the website http://www.narscosmetics.co.uk/ about 3 months ago, so have had sufficient time to give them a good go.

First off, the packaging is to die for; simple, sleek & bold.
Fist up is the Duo Concealer in Vanilla/Honey. Lovely packaging, the trade-mark double palette concealer with a handy mirror on the inside of the lid. Retailing at £23, it ain't cheap but if you want a good heavy-coverage then this may be a go-er for you. I tend to use the lighter colour for the under-eye area and the darker colour to correct any redness bought out through blemishes. I really like the consistancy and it blends well with my Real Techniques deluxe crease brush. I don't think I would repurchase this products due to the price, and although a good product, it doesn't do anything that a cheaper alternative couldn't do.
This little beauty is my favourite out of the bunch; The Multiple in Maldives. A rosy-bronze all-in-one product. Ideal for cheeks, highlight or even eye colour. I love this! A great alrounder. Again, easy to blend and gives a summery bronzed look to your face. Very pricey though at £29 a pop, but I've used this a lot and can see it going on forever.
Last up is Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturiser in Alaska. This is a bit of a love/hate product for me. For a tinted moisturiser, it's got far too much of a heavy coverage for me and I sure as hell didn't feel very radiant wearing it! It's much more like a foundation and I do find it goes a bit flakey. This could have something to do with that fact that the colour Alaska is slightly too yellowey for me, but still the colour blends out ok and looks fine, I just don't like the consistency on my skin and always go to other bb creams or tinted moisturisers before going to this one! I'm pretty gutted about this as recently I've been reaching for foundation alternatives, just wanting less coverage and less product on my face but I really wouldn't recommend this. Especially as it has a price tag of £27 (eeeeek)

Some swatch's for youuuu...
[L-R] Duo Concealer, The Multiple, Pure radiant Tinted Moisturiser.

All-in-all i'm happy with these products and they will be used but but I can't help but feel a bit let down. My expectations were very high with these products but maybe they just don't suit my skin. I'm very interested in trying out some of the eye products though. Zoe did a great review of the Nars Duo eyeshadow in Isolde on her blog-dying to try this now.

What do you think of Nars Products? Any recommendations?
